I ❤  Holland

I created a playful series where I painted on old plates to make them look like traditional Delft blue plates, but with a twist: each one features Dutch sentences you’d never actually hear a Dutch person say. It’s a series brimming with humor that serves up tradition with a wink

Me, me, me & my demons

This series is a reflection of my personal journey, evolving in tandem with my own growth. It comprises linoleum carvings that intimately depict my struggles with my inner demons. Through each piece, I navigate the ups and downs of self-discovery—celebrating victories and acknowledging setbacks. This series is not just about art; it’s about the hard, yet rewarding process of self-reflection and finding strength in vulnerability.

Grabando Impresiones/
Carving Impressions

After 20 years of living abroad I return to the places where my childhood was imprinted in me. In my work I display a sense of belonging, regardless of where I am physically, based solely on what has been imprinted in my soul.
All the pieces were carved in linoleum, printed an on paper and then the linoleum was pressed into clay. The beautiful thing was that all the relief of the linoleum was revealed in the clay, while that depth stayed invisible on the print itself.

The hands (open, closed, and fingers interlaced), a theme repeated throughout the pieces, describe my own relationship with traits of my identity that I accept, reject, or have come to learn to live with.

The series is comprised of three kinds of works:
The scenes, The plates & In summary (En Resumen)

Very Serious Series

This is very serious work. Someone sat hours, no, most probably days, thinking, designing, and making these pieces of art, for someone like me to come and deface them with my own view on them. Seriously, life is serious enough.

Unseen Goodbyes

Unseen Goodbyes" captures the quiet, personal rituals people perform in solitude as they mourn loved ones. Through a series of delicate linocut carvings, I explore these intimate moments of farewell that are often hidden from the outside world. Each piece represents a private act of remembrance, meaningful yet unseen and felt deeply by those who experience them. To the outside spectator, these moments might appear inconsequential, but their significance is immense to those involved. Choosing not to print these carvings underscores their ephemeral nature—like the moments themselves, they are there and then gone, connecting us in our shared human experience.

Assorted Endeavors

Between my main projects, I like to mess around with different materials and ideas. I always enjoy the process, though I don’t always love what comes out of it. But sometimes, I end up with something pretty cool. Here’s 'Assorted Endeavors,' a collection of these playful experiments that I thought were worth showing

ME & AI

This process started with using AI, ChatGPT, for prompts to inspire my art. Although the suggestions were advanced, they lacked the depth I was searching for. So, I decided to create my own prompts, turning this into an act of self-expression and a reminder that while machines can suggest, only humans truly feel and create.

This series highlights that despite AI’s impressive capabilities, it cannot replace the unique human touch.

Here, I explore the world of Artificial Intelligence. While AI can follow instructions precisely, it lacks the vision and soul behind the prompts. Each piece reflects my own vision and emotion, not AI’s versatility.

The real question is not whether AI will take over, but how it can enhance our creativity. AI cannot experience the nuances of human craftsmanship.
